Before we treat, we need to understand
— Core Therapists

After an inclusive evaluation, you and your therapist will have the understanding of what is causing you the pain and/or lack of function that you are experiencing. With that understanding, your therapist will be able to create a treatment plan that will make you more mobile, stronger, and pain free. Some of the treatments we utilize to correct your body are listed below:

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is the treatment that makes Core Physical Therapy stand out from other physical therapy clinics. In our manual therapy sessions, you will experience a variety of techniques, all focused on improving your structure and function. In these sessions, you may be surprised by where we find the problems in your body. Usually, the parts of your body that hurt are not the parts that need to be fixed! They are the ones doing all of the work. That is why they hurt. At Core, we will be looking for the parts of your body that need help. The ones that you are not even aware of. We will find the old injuries that you may have forgotten about and help your body to heal.

Manual therapy is the use of a therapist’s hands in order to create a change in the body. In the same way a mechanic uses their hands to fix a car, we use our hands to fix your body. Manual therapy is often the missing link that prohibits people from finding success while at more traditional styles of medicine.

There are many types of manual therapy and each of them have a specific purpose depending on the desired reaction from a specific body tissue. Some are more specific to nerves, some joints, some muscles etc. For this reason, Core PT does not specialize in any one manual therapy, but instead we are experts at many so that we have the right tool to help you get healthy again.

Hands-on techniques we use include but are not limited to:  myofascial release, massage, craniosacral therapy, strain-counterstrain, muscle energy technique, joint mobilization, neural tissue tension techniques, neuromuscular techniques, treatment of Chapman's reflexes, deep tissue massage and much more.

Medicupping

Medicupping is a treatment technique that your therapist might include in your plan of care. It utilizes glass cups which are attached to suction.  The suction allows your therapist to treat adhesions that might be found in your tissue.  These adhesions have the potential to slow down your healing progress.  This technique gently breaks up these adhesions, allowing for improved tissue mobility, increased circulation, and re-absorption of any swelling that might be present.  Once this layer of swelling has been removed, your therapist will be able to more effectively assess your situation and make the necessary changes to improve your pain.

Functional Movement Exercise

Often movement patterns are dysfunctional because we have an injury. That is when manual therapy is the right choice. Sometimes, movement itself becomes dysfunctional, because of lifestyle choices and habits. When this is the case, the treatment of choice is functional movement exercise. Functional movement is everything.  We need to move and we need to be functional doing it.  Our functional movement exercises will help you to get out of those postures that cause your body to hurt.  These exercises will also help you to make new uncompensated patterns which will make you healthier, stronger and pain-free.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent

Problems that are more systemic, like chronic pain and autoimmune problems, need to be treated systemically. Electricity has been used for decades to promote wound healing (microcurrent) and for pain control (TENS). Frequency Specific Microcurrent offers this by allowing the clinician to adjust the frequency and intensity of the current to promote healthy physiological changes in the desired tissue.

This pain-free treatment has been observed to promote healing in chronic conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia, enhance healing in viral conditions such as cold sores and shingles, reduce inflammatory markers, and even provide a sense of well being for those who suffer from anxiety.

Adhesion Release

Adhesions/scar tissue are often the cause of many chronic pains and physical ailments. Many of our patients come in with back pain and later admit to a more systemic involvement. These problems can be rooted in abdominal or pelvic adhesions acquired during c-section, appendectomy, gall bladder removal, hysterectomy, etc. Tests like x-rays, ultrasounds, and MRI’s can’t see them, so they often are missed as a cause of chronic pain issues.

Many researchers have found what we see here at Core PT. Adhesions are a big cause of hip pain, back pain, infertility, bladder problems and even other pains such as neck tightness and headaches, due to postural problems related to the adhesions. Everyday, we are introduced to another patient that believes they have back or hip arthritis when in fact it is a symptom of abdominal and/or pelvic adhesions. This is not surprising since it is estimated that 95% of people that have had abdominal surgery have adhesions.

Our system of adhesion release provides immediate and lasting benefit for the multitude of symptoms that are caused by these adhesions.

If you suspect that abdominal or pelvic adhesions are the cause of your current ailments, Core PT has the solution you are looking for.

Chronic Pain Is Not A Life Sentence. It Is Only A Pain That Hasn’t Been Fixed Yet.
